Chef Note

A Note From The Chef

With the kids back in school, I am gearing up our weekday classes in September. The first one is Healthy “Brown Bag” Lunches on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 - 11 AM - 2 PM. Enjoy an afternoon out and I will have you home before the kids get back from school.

I will be conducting another free grilling and smoking clinic on Saturday, September 12, between 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM. Come learn about the differences in charcoal versus gas; indirect versus direct cooking; smoking and outdoor baking.

We are kicking off the Fall class schedule in September with some great new classes and a few repeats of popular older ones. You can view classes and sign up at www.realcoolcookingschool.com.

Cheers!

Chef Tom Reinhart

Microplane Box Grater
Price: $34.95 - Item# 34006

Microplane Box Grater

I have been a long time fan of the Microplane® Zester Grater tool. The new Microplane® 4-Sided Box Grater features three of the most popular, patented, Microplane® grating blades - Fine/Zester, Medium Ribbon, and Extra Coarse - along with an additional fourth Slicer blade. So far this product has been designated Fine Cooking's Best Overall Box Grater. In January 2009, it took top honors in the Kitchen Hand Tools category of the 2009 Housewares Design Awards.

I have them in stock if you would like to try one.

Frozen Grapes
Here is a great after school snack idea:

Buy a pound of seedless grapes and pluck them from the vine. Wash them and place a handful of grapes into several sandwich-sized freezer bags, and put the bags in the freezer. Once the grapes are frozen, they develop a popsicle-like texture and taste deliciously sweet without any added sugar.
